If you’ve just had an accident

  1. Get everyone somewhere safe. Call 911 if anyone is hurt.
  2. In Pennsylvania you must notify police right away if anyone is injured or killed, or if a car can’t be driven and needs a tow (75 Pa.C.S. § 3746).
  3. Exchange names, insurance details and plate numbers with the other driver.
  4. Photograph the cars, the damage and the scene.
  5. Report it to your insurer. You don’t have to use the shop they suggest.
